You are given a button, when pressed it means you have passed judgement on everyone who has and will commit violent crimes(ie extreme beatings, rape, murder etc).  Nobody will know that you are the person who caused this.  It would include those insane or otherwise normally excused by the law.  There is no room for negotiation with it, and is an all or nothing deal, take it or leave it.

Personally, I would use it.

Those who are insane do not deserve punishment for what is punishing their mind already. They need help.

I'd use it, yes.

It would be well worth them dying imo for such crimes.

Not being a horrible person, and not wanting to make myself a violent criminal at the exact same instant that I condemn all violent criminals to certain death, I would not push said button.

It would not make you any more a criminal than judging a person's fate does a jury.

Hell no. It would be suicide.

The second you push that button you become a violent criminal. You would be killed along with the rest of them.

Fuck no I would leave that button the fuck alone.

Yes it would. You are actively murdering every single person in the world who has committed a violent crime. Not all violent crime warrants death, it can be argued that no crime warrants death.

"Violent crime" is a very broad type of crime.

I don't think the button would be working on a legalistic system of judgement...It just seems to be getting rid of "violent" people who can't control themselves.

I also thought about the whole "If I press it then I'll be a baddy too, and will die in turn." But, owing to my previous rationalization, I think that you'd be ok. It isn't violent to press the button and condemn those people. unethical perhaps, immoral maybe, but violent? eh, i don't think so.

Either way, I probably wouldn't.

That's the first thing I thought. It would most likely depend on the terms of it. If I was going to be killed right along with everyone else, fuck that.

Otherwise I would.

It depends on how far the reach of this goes. For instance, would it kill people who murdered in self-defence? Or how about soldiers fighting a war? On the other side, talking about rapists, I wouldn't even have to think about pressing the button, it would be automatic.

People who have committed crimes are not significantly more likely to commit a crime in the future than people who haven't committed crimes. Now, if you could publicize your button and threaten to push it sometime in the far future, you might significantly decrease crime rates.

It goes completely against my morals, but I think I would have to press that button. I would have to see if someone/thing had the power to do it. Sakuju!
