That depends on whether killing is necessarily always violent. If you just end their lives, that's the most peaceful death anyone could wish for.

I can see why that option might be appealing. However, I couldn't bring myself to do it. Part of me sees that as inhumane, especially due to your including of the criminally insane (I'm a bit partial there due to being a psych major). Then, the victim in me wishes for a more prolonged death for such persons, something more along the lines of torture..

Yes it would. You are actively murdering every single person in the world who has committed a violent crime. Not all violent crime warrants death, it can be argued that no crime warrants death. "Violent crime" is a very broad type of crime.
I don't think the button would be working on a legalistic system of judgement...It just seems to be getting rid of "violent" people who can't control themselves. I also thought about the whole "If I press it then I'll be a baddy too, and will die in turn." But, owing to my previous rationalization, I think that you'd be ok. It isn't violent to press the button and condemn those people. unethical perhaps, immoral maybe, but violent? eh, i don't think so. Either way, I probably wouldn't.
How is it non violent? Is pulling the trigger of a gun any different than pushing a button?

No. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. Besides, how can you determine who this would kill? There are those who are rehabilitated. You never know who you may end up killing.

The act of killing everyone who committed a violent crime itself is a violent crime and so therefore you must kill yourself. Therefore I would let justice prevail fairly so that order may be constructed justly.

This is a civil society or at least we pretend to be. We still having big fish eating little ones. So when big players fuck the underclass it's legal and nobody says a thing, but when suppressed people fight back they deserve to die?

I'd press it once.. Just to see if it did work.. But otherwise.. not every violent crime deserves death.. Well.. Arguably none do but personal preference I'd probably kill a few who's crimes pissed me off.
